What to Do in Kemer

Four experiences that define a Kemer visit — history, canyon, summit and sea.
🏛️
Phaselis Boat Route
A Lycian harbour city founded in 690 BC with three separate bays — North Harbour, Central Harbour and South Beach. The ruins run between them: a Roman theatre, an aqueduct, a colonnaded main avenue and harbour walls that slope into the sea. Most boat routes from Kemer Marina anchor in the central bay for 2–3 hours. Snorkelling around the harbour foundations reveals submerged sections of the ancient walls. No road reaches the site — the only access is by boat or a long forest walk.
BOAT ROUTE · HISTORY + SWIMMING
🏔️
Göynük Canyon
A slot canyon 10 minutes from Kemer town, cold emerald water running through it year-round. You walk and swim through the gorge — sections require swimming with a life jacket where the walls narrow to a metre wide. The contrast is what makes it: you descend from pine forests into a cool, dripping limestone corridor. A half-day activity that pairs well with an afternoon on the beach. Inside the national park, no development around it.

Olympos Cable Car
The Tahtali gondola rises 2,365m in 10 minutes — the fastest altitude gain by cable car in Turkey. At the summit the temperature drops roughly 10°C from the coast. On a clear day Cyprus is visible 80km offshore. The best single day from Kemer: cable car in the morning for sunrise visibility, Phaselis boat route in the afternoon. Plan 3+ days ahead in July–August — capacity fills early.

Köprülü Canyon Rafting
An hour from Kemer through the Taurus Mountains — 14km of Grade 2–3 rapids through a gorge 400m deep. The Köprülü river runs cold even in August. Full-day experiences include transfer, safety equipment, guide and a traditional lunch at a riverside restaurant. No experience needed. Combo packages add buggy safari and zipline for a full adventure day from Antalya.

Before You Book — Practical Notes

🏛️
Allow 2–3 hours minimum at Phaselis
The three bays are spread across 1.5km of coastline. Boat routes that anchor for 2 hours give enough time to swim and walk the main avenue. To properly explore the Roman theatre, aqueduct and harbour foundations — look for routes that allow 3 hours on site. The extra hour is worth it.
🥾
Water shoes — not optional
Phaselis beaches are pebble and the ancient harbour floor is rough stone. Göynük Canyon requires walking on slippery wet rock inside the gorge. Every shop in Kemer sells water shoes for €5–8. Bring them or buy them before departure — you'll need them at both sites.
🚡
Cable car: book 3+ days ahead in summer
Olympos Cable Car operates at daily capacity limits. In July and August, morning slots are booked out days in advance. Unlike most Kemer tours which are flexible day-to-day, the cable car requires forward planning. Morning light is better for views — afternoon slots last longer but visibility can fade.
📍
Pickup covers the full Kemer coast
The Kemer district runs 25km along the coast — from Beldibi in the north through Kemer town to Camyuva and Tekirova in the south. Hotel pickup is available throughout. When you book, confirm your hotel name and the pickup time will be arranged to your door.

Kemer Tours — Common Questions

Straight answers to what people actually ask.
What are the best tours to book in Kemer?
The Phaselis boat route is the standout Kemer tour — a Lycian ancient city with three swimming bays, only reachable by boat or a long forest trail. Göynük Canyon is the best half-day experience. Olympos Cable Car gives the best views in the region at 2,365m. For adrenaline, Köprülü Canyon rafting is under an hour from Kemer. Browse the tours above to compare options, durations and prices.
What is Phaselis and is it worth visiting?
Phaselis is a Lycian harbour city founded in 690 BC with three separate bays. Alexander the Great wintered his fleet here in 334 BC. What makes it special is the combination: you swim in protected bays while surrounded by 2,000-year-old harbour walls, a colonnaded avenue and a Roman theatre. Most boat routes anchor for 2–3 hours. It is consistently the most-requested stop on Kemer tours.
Can you reach Suluada from Kemer?
Yes. Suluada is approximately 2 hours south by boat from Kemer Marina. Full-day tours depart daily May–October. The island is volcanic rock with no facilities and water visibility of 12–15 metres — one of the clearest in the Mediterranean. Hotel transfer to the marina is included. See our Antalya boat trips for available routes.
How far is Kemer from Antalya city?
45km south of Antalya, about 45 minutes by road through the coastal mountain foothills. If you are staying in a Kemer hotel, hotel pickup is included with all tours — no travel to Antalya city required. Tours that combine Kemer and Antalya city include transfer between both.
Are Kemer tours suitable for families with children?
Most are. Phaselis boat routes work well for children aged 5 and above — calm bays, swimming stops and interesting ruins. Cable car is suitable for all ages. Göynük Canyon swim-through sections are suitable from age 8 upwards. Rafting minimum age is 7. Message us on WhatsApp with your children's ages and we'll confirm the right options for your group.
Is hotel pickup included in Kemer tours?
Yes — pickup is included from all hotels across the Kemer district: Kemer town, Beldibi, Camyuva, Tekirova and surrounding areas. Confirm your hotel name at booking and the pickup time will be arranged. For private tours, pickup can also be arranged from Antalya city hotels.
