About This Tour

Pamukkale Lake Salda tour from Antalya covers two of Turkey’s most striking natural landmarks in a single 12-hour day — €48.75 per person, with hotel pickup from Antalya, Belek, Side, Kemer, and Alanya. The route travels first to Lake Salda, a crater lake in Burdur province whose turquoise water and white hydromagnesite shoreline have earned it the comparison to the Maldives, then continues to Pamukkale — the UNESCO World Heritage site where calcium-rich thermal springs have formed white terraced pools cascading down the hillside for millennia — and the ruins of Hierapolis above. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included, along with a TURSAB-licensed guide and round-trip transport. Pamukkale and Hierapolis entrance tickets are paid separately at the gate. A 50% deposit is required at booking, with the balance settled on the day.

If you prefer a Pamukkale tour with entrance tickets included, see our Pamukkale & Hierapolis guided tour. For planning what else to see from Antalya, browse our Pamukkale travel guide or explore all day trips from Antalya.

Itinerary

05:30–07:00 — Hotel Pickup
Your driver collects you from your hotel in Antalya, Belek, Side, Kemer, or Alanya. The 12-hour itinerary requires an early start. Exact pickup time depends on your hotel location and will be confirmed after booking. The drive west toward Burdur province takes approximately 2 hours from central Antalya.

07:00–07:45 — Breakfast En Route
Breakfast is served at a highway restaurant approximately 90 minutes into the drive. The stop allows time for a full sit-down breakfast before continuing to Lake Salda. Drinks are not included and can be ordered separately.

08:30–10:30 — Lake Salda
Lake Salda is a volcanic crater lake in Burdur province, approximately 160 kilometres west of Antalya. The lake's unusually clear turquoise water — coloured by high magnesium carbonate concentrations — and the white hydromagnesite mineral deposits along its shore are the source of its comparison to the Maldives. You have two hours to walk the shore, swim from the designated beach area (subject to current seasonal regulations), and take photographs. Your guide explains the lake's geology and the protected status of the shoreline.

10:30–11:30 — Drive to Pamukkale
The drive from Lake Salda to Pamukkale is approximately 75 kilometres and takes around one hour through the Denizli plateau. Pamukkale sits on a hillside above the modern town of the same name, at an elevation of around 200 metres.

11:30–13:00 — Pamukkale Travertine Terraces
You enter Pamukkale from the lower gate. Entrance tickets for Pamukkale and Hierapolis are purchased here and are not included in the tour price — the current adult ticket covers both Pamukkale and Hierapolis. Visitors walk barefoot on the white travertine terraces, which are formed by calcium bicarbonate deposits from the thermal springs above. The terraces contain shallow thermal pools at varying temperatures. Your guide leads the group through the lower terraces before ascending toward Hierapolis.

13:00–14:00 — Lunch
Lunch is served at a restaurant near the Pamukkale site. The meal is included in the tour price. Drinks are ordered separately. This is also a rest stop before the Hierapolis ruins section.

14:00–16:30 — Hierapolis Ancient City
Hierapolis was founded as a thermal spa city in the 2nd century BC and flourished under Roman and Byzantine rule before being abandoned after a 14th-century earthquake. The ruins extend across the hilltop above the travertines — the Roman theatre (capacity 15,000) is one of the best-preserved in Turkey, the necropolis stretches along the north road, and the Roman baths have been partially converted into a museum. Your guide walks the group through the main monuments and explains the city's history as a centre of healing. Cleopatra's Antique Pool — where guests can swim among submerged ancient columns in naturally heated water — is available as an optional extra, paid directly at the pool entrance.

16:30–18:30 — Depart Pamukkale, Drive Toward Antalya
The coach departs Pamukkale for the return journey east. The drive back to Antalya takes approximately 2.5–3 hours. A comfort stop is made en route. 18:30–19:30 — Dinner En Route
Dinner is served at a restaurant on the return route. The meal is included in the tour price. This is the final stop before returning to hotels.

20:30–22:00 — Return to Hotels
Transfer back to your hotel. Return times vary by hotel location. Most Antalya and Belek guests are back by 21:00–22:00.
